Breezy Beach: December 1st
After our day without proper beach accessories yesterday, we sorted ourselves out and headed to the beach. The temperature in the trees of the campground was good, no wind or anything, however, as soon as we got onto the coastal road, the trees were really blowing in the breeze and the waves were looking pretty choppy.
Undeterred, the kids raced onto the sand, I'm surprised they didn't get blown back! It was incredibly windy, hoodies went straight up, it was impossible to find an area that offered any kind of protection but they made the best of it, created some fun games and hung out for an hour and a half until I finally gave up! They're certainly hardier than I am! It was neat watching the huge amounts of foam washing up onto the sand though and then dispersing like little balls, blown across the beach, kind of like a reverse snowball, losing mass as opposed to gaining. I love that we have the time to watch and appreciate things like that this year.
After dinner, we opened the first door of our advent nativity scene, we add a piece each day in the run up to Christmas. We also put up our Christmas tree, it's a whopping 14 inches tall with very minimalist decorations. I'm always accused of being 'bah-humbug' about decorations so our little corner of the camper with its Christmas theme is just perfect for me! Hopefully Dave will put hooks up for the stockings this week and then we'll be all set - perfect! Of course, we'll have to move and re-set the nativity and tree another 4 times yet before we actually get to December 25th!
