An added bonus for our stay in CA meant that we were once again close to Dave’s extended family.  We were thrilled to discover that everyone was around on this Saturday and available to meet up.  Susan and Ron kindly hosted us all – that’s two families with four kids apiece; they have sweet Mason - and Bryce will be joining their family in just a couple of weeks – yep, despite being nine months pregnant, she agreed to host eight adults and ten kids (many of whom would be better described as adults!).

We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing time with everyone; it was fantastic to catch up and see how much the kids had grown in the two years since we’d seen them last – the answer to that would be: a LOT!

To attain our Nevada badge on the geocaching site, we completed a couple of caches close to their house before we drove home……and I think sucked another family into the fun (Ron, did you find any yet?!).

On the drive back over Donner Pass, the sky color was spectacular.  At one point, as we pulled off the freeway, a police officer stopped briefly to chat with Dave about the glorious skies and how lucky he was that he was able to enjoy such a view each day as he worked.  The kids were aghast, “Is Daddy getting into trouble?”
